Bangkok has a huge gastronomic offer for all tastes and budgets. Here you can find from a cup of fish or rice with curry at a roadside stall for 30 baht up to international cuisine for 2500 baht. As usual in big cities, in Bangkok we can a grand gastronomic variety, but one that is dominated by the Thai and Asian cuisine in general. The Thai cuisine is varied, has excellent food and the vast majority of tourists who have tried it return with a very good impression of its kitchen.
The lunch hour is usually between 11:30 and 13:00 and dinner between 18:00 and 21:00.
VAT is 7% and is usually included in the final bill. Many facilities also add 10% for the service. In case the service is not added to the bill, you must leave a 10% tip.

There are several ways of eating in Bangkok:

Eating on the street

Eating in the streets of Bangkok can be a very delicious and very easy to find experience - you do not have to walk more than 100 meters to find a vendor who sells satay with a hot sauce for 5 or 10 baht per piece. One of the national dishes of Thailand that you can try is pad Thai that is fried rice noodles with eggs, fish sauce, tamarind juice and red chilli. It can be prepared anywhere and it’s only 50 baht.
Khao San Road is known for its stands that are selling insects. The insects are fried and very tasty with the soy sauce that is sprinkled on them. Available types: scorpions, water beetles, grasshoppers, crickets, grubs, bamboo mealworms and some seasonal specialties.

Dining on a boat

In Bangkok there are several companies that offer dinner cruises on the Chao Phraya River. Prices range from 1000 baht to 1500 baht per person and include, in addition to the dinner, music and traditional dances. It's a very relaxing way of dinning after a busy day. Dinners can be booked on the websites of the companies. Among the companies that offer free pickup and transfers to the hotel are Loynava, Manohra Cruises and Thai Cruise.

It is a quiet, modern restaurant with a separate outdoor dining located within walking distance of the Skytrain line (Ploenchit and Chitlom stops). The menu offers a variety of Thai and international specialties as lamb chops served with baked garlic, mint jelly and mushroom risotto. The food presentation is amazing and they have delicious desserts.

This Bangkok restaurant is also a cooking school that is located in an old building and offers traditional dishes that are not usually served at other restaurants. Among its specialties we can find foie gras with tamarind sauce or Panaeng Kai, chicken with red curry, coconut milk and basil.

Zanzibar

This chic and contemporary restaurant located in a renovated Thai house is located in the Sukhumvit Road area. The ground floor has live music and a lively atmosphere, while the top is quieter and has nice seats and wooden floors. It serves Thai, Japanese and Italian among which we can find an excellent spicy beef with herbs and crunchy eggplant.

Mango Tree

The Mango Tree Restaurant consists of two old houses decorated with photographs of past Bangkok and a collection of old cameras. The Mango Tree has very economic prices and serves excellent Thai food. The dishes have influences from all over the country and one of the tastiest specialties is the spicy green and red curry.

The name of this restaurant was derived from an expression of its founder, former Senator Mechai Viravaidya, who said that "birth control should be as cheap as vegetables". Besides the main hall the restaurant has a beautiful garden where you can also eat. Among the specialties are Pad Tai that is fish and meat rolls with herbs and spices.

The Whole Earth

This restaurant is located in a large garden, lit by candles, of an old Thai house. The restaurant offers an excellent variety of Thai and Indian food, plus a large selection of vegetarian food. Its natural and serene interior with wooden floors (you must remove your shoes before entering) makes The Whole Earth a relaxing place where you can enjoy a delicious meal.

The Witch's Tavern is a very charming place, located in the Thonglor area and is decorated in the style of an English pub. They have comfortable leather chairs where you can relax and watch TV on big screens or listen to live jazz on weekends. The restaurant serves Thai and English food and one of the tastiest dishes is spaghetti with hard-shelled clams, onions and white wine.

Lemongrass

The Lemnograss Restaurant is located in an old house set in a fusion of Eastern and Western styles. Also their food is based on the merger, being oriented towards tourism. Their specialty is tom yang kung which is a sweet and sour shrimp soup with ginger.
